Alejandra Peña González is an Adjunct Professor of International Relations at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, where she earned her Ph.D. in Politics, Policies and International Relations. She also holds a bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, another in Law, and a master’s in Political Science from Universidad de los Andes (Venezuela). Her research agenda focuses on China’s international relations and foreign policy. Her academic contributions in articles and book chapters address topics such as China’s rise, the assertiveness in its foreign policy, grand strategy, the Belt and Road Initiative in Central Asia and Latin America and the geopolitics of infrastructure. She is a member of the InterÀsia research group (SGR-Cat 2021), the Observatorio de Política China, and the Red Iberoamericana de Sinología. Additionally, she has previously attended the French Center for Research on Contemporary China (Hong Kong) and the Sino-French Research Center in Social Sciences (Tsinghua University, Beijing) as a visiting researcher. Currently, she teaches courses on International Relations and the Contemporary International System at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and is an Affiliate Professor in the Master’s in International Affairs and Diplomacy at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya.
