About this project:

The ambitious FORNET project, funded by the European Commission (Fifth Framework Programme), brought together 25 institutions involved in European foreign policy research. Under the coordination of Christopher Hill (London School of Economics), FORNET had three primary aims: to modernize research on the European Union and prospective member states; to further research towards new, little-studied areas like the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP); and to increase the number of members of the scientific community participating in the academic debate on Europe’s foreign policy. The final report of the project can be read here.

The Institut Universitari d’Estudis Europeus (IUEE) played a prominent role in collecting and editing the contributions of the CFSP Database created in the course of the project. The project’s outcomes included 54 CFSP Watch Reports completed by its researchers, among whom Esther Barbé and Laia Mestres contributed the report on ‘Spain’. It should be noted that Robert Kissack was responsible for the administrative tasks of the FORNET project from the LSE.
