The Observatori researcher Giovanni B. Dini spent a week at the Instituto da Defesa Nacional where he was invited by the IDN and Bruno Oliveira Martins (PRIO) to discuss shared research interests concerning European Union applications of AI in border control and management of asylum and migration and how these apply to the evolving concept of European Digital Sovereignty. While in Lisbon, Giovanni also attended Helena Machado’s seminar titled “Assemblages Éticas da Inteligência Artificial: Controvérsias, Resistências e Redes no Reconhecimento Facial”, which was hosted by Nina Amelung (ISCTE) at the Instituto Universitário de Lisboa.
