Observatori researcher Valeria Bello (Ramon Llull University) has published the article “Radicalisation and Radicalism: The Double Face of Prejudice in the Spanish Case of the Neo-Nazi Group Hogar Social” in the Journal of Contemporary European Studies.

This article analyzes the radicalization process of the Spanish youth group Hogar Social, distinguishing it from radicalism as a movement, using the process tracing method. It examines its inspiration from other European groups, such as Casa Pound in Italy, and considers the socioeconomic and political context surrounding its formation. To understand their strategies and objectives, the study investigates their narratives and actions since their emergence in 2014, focusing on the reasons behind their radicalization and how they interact with their audience. The study highlights the role of prejudice in youth radicalization and how it is politically exploited to tap into social discontent.
