Observatori researcher Eduard Soler concluded the 2023-2024 academic year by participating in the “Spain in the World” programme organised by the International University Menéndez Pelayo and Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, EU and Cooperation in Santander. The event provided a unique opportunity for diplomats, politicians, journalists and analysts to discuss how the international agenda affects foreign policy. Eduard shared his insights on the Middle East alongside Alberto Ucelay and Covadonga Morales Bertrand. He highlighted three key points: the need for change if previous approaches have not worked, the importance of considering the costs of not recognising Palestine as a state and the far-reaching impact of the recent Gaza tragedy on the international order and the EU’s role. The event was coordinated by Álvaro Imbernón (MFA-Spain) and Spanish Ambassador to NATO Federico Torres Muro.
