Aitor Bonsoms and Giovanni Dini present papers at the 17th biannual AECPA conference in Burgos
Observatori researchers Aitor Bonsoms and Giovanni Dini (both of the UAB and IBEI) presented recently published and in progress papers at the Asociación Española de Ciencia Política y de al Administración (AECPA), held in Burgos from the 22nd to the 24th of July.
Aitor presented two papers, the first “Changes and continuities in Spanish counterterrorist discourses, policies, and practices after ETA: a greater Europeanization of Spanish counterterrorism?” on the changes and continuities within Spanish counterterrorism and the impact of European initiatives on the matter and the effect of the Spanish experience on the European level. The second paper, “Fieldwork in the field of security and international affairs: problems, new findings and challenges”, on how fieldwork is, far from a secondary issue, a central element in the study of counterterrorism, P/CVE, and security studies in general.
Giovanni presented his paper, co-authored with David Garcia Garcia (UB/IBEI) and Anna Pont Torres (UPF), titled “Predicting Migration: The Human Rights Implications of the EU’s Ubiquitous Border”, a human rights and critical security studies analysis of AI-assisted migration forecasting tools being developed in the EU.
