Several EU-NormCon and Observatori researchers participated in the 26th International Conference of Europeanists, organized between the 20th and 22nd of June in Madrid (Spain). A large part of the papers were presented in one panel convened by the project.
In the panel convened by the project European Union Contested: Foreign and Security Policy in a Changing World’ and chaired by Elisabeth Johansson-Nogués (IBEI), Leif Johan Eliasson (East Stroudsburg University)presented the paper ‘Norm contestation in modern trade agreements: was TTIP a “one-off” in the EU?’, co-authored with Patricia García-Duran (Universitat de Barcelona), Esther Barbé (UAB-IBEI) and Diego Badell (UAB-IBEI) co-authored the paper ‘The European Union and Lethal Autonomous Weapons Systems: United in Diversity?, Marta Iñiguez de Heredia (UAM) contributed with the ‘EU’s new defensive peacebuilding: contesting or displacing the security-development nexus?’, and Lluc López (UOC) exposed her last piece of research ‘Contesting the Rise of China: Norms, Values and Identity in EU-China Relations’.
