EU-NormCon organizes a panel in the framework of the 2018 ISA Conference

EU-NormCon organized the panel ‘Less Power to Strengthen the Rules of Power? Europe as a Contested Promotor of Multilateralism’ in the ISA Conference ‘Power of Rules and Rule of Power’ that took place in San Francisco (California, USA) between the 4th and the 7th of April. The panel had Gustavo Macedo (Columbia University) as discussant.

Several EU-NormCon scholars presented papers in this panel, such as the Esther Barbé (IBEI) with “Eroding the Power of Rules? The Impact of the “Women, Peace, and Security” Agenda on the UNSC Reaction Culture and Its Backlash”, Marta Iniguez De Heredia (IBEI) with ‘Contesting Which Norms? Peacebuilding and Patterns of Intervention in Africa’, Martijn Vlaskamp (IBEI) with ‘Transparency as a Guiding Principle for Global Natural Resource Governance: What Role Can Western Actors Still Play?’, and Benjamin Kienzle (King’s College London) with “The Legitimacy of Informal Groups of States and Effective Multilateralism: The Case of the E3 in the Nuclear Negotiations with Iran”. Akaysha Humniski (Carleton University) also participated in the panel.
