Diego Badell has joined the research group European Foreign Policy Observatory. He has gained the PhD scholarship granted by the ‘Ministry of Economy, Industry, and Competitiveness’ in the framework of the project ‘EU-NormCon’. The project aims to address the difficulties experienced by the EU as an international actor from new profiles of normative contestation in the EU, their effects on the EU’s international actorness and in particular on its ability to tackle the problems that a shifting global order poses for multilateralism.

Badell will conduct his research at Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals (IBEI). He holds a master’s degree in International Security from IBEI, and received his bachelor in Political Science and Public Management from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. His thesis will explore the contestation of the EU actorness as an international security provider.
